LOVE Magazine Unveils New GTA 6 Screenshots and Developer Insight on Jason and Lucia

LOVE Magazine Issue 27 has put Grand Theft Auto VI front and centre with a cover featuring protagonists Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, releasing four new screenshots that had not previously appeared in any official materials. The images — shared through the magazine’s social channels ahead of the print edition — include a diner scene that draws clear visual parallels to the opening of Pulp Fiction, with both characters gripping pistols over a cash-filled duffel bag. Additional shots show the pair playing pool at a bar and posing in a stylised black-and-white photograph, giving a glimpse of quieter, character-driven moments alongside the expected action.

Rockstar writers used the LOVE feature to articulate what distinguishes Jason and Lucia as a dual-protagonist pair. Game writer Elizabeth Gauvey-Kern described the creative goal as ensuring both characters feel “vulnerable, tough, flawed, right sometimes, wrong sometimes, able to learn from each other.” Writer Alexa D’Agostina elaborated that focusing on fully realised people with their own desires produces something “perfectly imperfect — with clichés, but also undeniably real.” The studio also explained that the two protagonists approach Leonida from opposite angles: Lucia is driven and purposeful, described as “the one with a plan,” while Jason is more reactive, shaped by circumstances rather than directing them.

Senior Vice President Rupert Humphries framed the fictional state itself as “a pressure cooker for all kinds of insanity,” with Rockstar’s aim being to push modern societal extremes to their logical conclusion within the game’s world. Importantly, the developers emphasised that Jason and Lucia are not chasing conventional criminal empire ambitions — their underlying motivation is far more grounded: a home, financial stability, and the semblance of a normal life. That framing positions GTA 6 as a story about the gap between aspiration and reality in contemporary America.

The GTA 6 variant of LOVE Issue 27 sold out online within minutes of going live, though other cover versions — each containing the full developer interview — remain available at €25. The feature lands roughly seven weeks before the game’s November 19, 2026 release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, as Rockstar’s marketing campaign moves into its final and most intensive phase.
