Rockstar Reveals GTA 6 Radio Stations and Introduces Franchise-First On-Foot Listening

Rockstar Games has lifted the lid on Grand Theft Auto VI radio lineup, revealing six stations six weeks out from the game November 19 launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The announcement, accompanied by audio previews players can stream right now, describes what Rockstar calls the biggest and widest-ranging in-game radio selection in the franchise history, and confirmed that the six stations spotlighted today are only a portion of the full lineup awaiting players in Leonida.

The six revealed stations span a deliberately broad range of genres. Flash FM carries modern pop; Back Country Radio covers classic outlaw country, with Loretta Lynn among the confirmed artists; Cocoteo FM dishes out modern Latin hits with Bad Bunny in a hosting role; The Chamber 106.6 delivers hard rock and speed metal including Slayer; Afro Bank FM focuses on amapiano and African music; and Dirty South Classics handles regional rap and hip-hop. Rockstar has also confirmed additional stations covering classic rock and talk radio programming, though those remain unnamed for now.

The more structurally significant announcement is what happens when players step out of their vehicles. For the first time in Grand Theft Auto history, radio does not go silent the moment Jason or Lucia opens a car door. Both protagonists can now pipe audio through in-game earbuds and headphones connected to their smartphones, carrying stations and a new catalogue of on-demand podcasts with them as they walk, run, or explore on foot. The podcasts are a franchise first altogether: purpose-made audio content players can select and queue rather than catching whatever happens to be playing live.

Taken together, the reveal positions GTA 6 audio layer as a significantly more flexible system than previous entries. Music has always been central to the GTA experience, but it has historically been a passive, vehicle-tied feature; the move to smartphone-routed audio fundamentally extends when and how players interact with the soundtrack. With more stations still to be announced and the full track listing unrevealed, the complete scope of the game radio offering remains to be seen ahead of November 19.
