Florida Nudist Resort Fights Back After GTA 6 Fans Identify It as In-Game Location and Demand Payment
Cypress Cove Nudist Resort in Kissimmee, Florida has found itself at the centre of a bizarre GTA 6-adjacent controversy after members of the game’s fan community identified the real-world venue as the apparent inspiration for a nudist resort that appeared in leaked gameplay footage circulating online last month. Fans used environmental details in the leaked clips to reverse-engineer the location, and the identification quickly spread across GTA 6 forums and social media. Cypress Cove sits near Orlando and has operated since the 1960s — long predating Rockstar’s game, which will not release until November 19, 2026.
The situation escalated from curiosity into something more troubling when a subset of fans began posting fabricated Google reviews referencing in-game character Jason Duval and specific scenes from the leaked footage. According to Cypress Cove management, some of those reviewers then contacted the resort demanding payment in exchange for removing their posts — a textbook extortion attempt. The resort documented the threats and reported them to authorities. Google subsequently removed the offending reviews from the platform.
Cypress Cove responded publicly with a statement that was firm and, given the circumstances, notably good-humoured. “We will not pay. We will not negotiate,” the resort declared, adding that their “marketing budget does not contain a line item for ‘internet ransom.’” For good measure, management also took a gentle swipe at the game itself: “We appreciate the commitment to the GTA storyline, but Cypress Cove is located in Florida — not Leonida.”
The incident is a peculiar footnote in GTA 6’s pre-launch story. The leaked footage that sparked the identification frenzy was sourced from an internal Rockstar build circulated by the account known as Cyberleek in August; Rockstar never confirmed which real locations, if any, served as direct inspiration for specific in-game venues. Whether Cypress Cove has any actual connection to the game’s fictional world remains unconfirmed. With ten weeks until GTA 6 launches, the episode underscores how intensely the game’s community has fixated on the world Rockstar is building — to sometimes regrettable effect.
